Whole Wheat Mini Pizza Recipe with Hidden Veggies

I’m excited to share this family-friendly recipe today. I grew up with Prego® and now use their sauces with my little one. Their new Prego®+ Hidden with Super Veggies is a simple way to add vegetables into familiar dishes—and it’s perfect for picky eaters.

These Hidden Veggie Packed Mini Pizzas are a fun, hands-on dinner that sneaks extra vegetables into a favorite meal. The Prego®+ sauce blends sweet potato, carrot, cauliflower, spinach, butternut squash, and roasted red pepper into a smooth, flavorful base that works beautifully on both pizzas and pastas.

At home we aim for balance. My toddler’s acceptable vegetable list has shrunk to carrots, peas, and green beans, so I love any way to slip in more nutrition. This recipe does exactly that—plus it uses a quick, yeast-free whole wheat dough that’s soft, chewy, and ready in about 10 minutes of hands-on time.

If you prefer curbside pickup over shopping in-store, many grocers offer convenient options to get Prego®+ Hidden with Super Veggies without entering the store. Grab a jar, set up a pizza night, and let everyone choose their favorite toppings—while still getting a boost of veggies.

How to make this recipe:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flours, sea salt, baking powder, and sugar until evenly combined.
  • In a small bowl, whisk 3/4 cup room-temperature water and the olive oil together.
  • Slowly add the water and oil mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring or using your hands to bring the dough together. Add extra water a tablespoon at a time only if needed; the dough should be moist and pull into a ball but not be sticky.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 10–15 times. Divide into four equal balls.
  • Roll each ball to about 1/4 inch thickness (or to your preferred thickness). Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and dock the dough with a fork to prevent large bubbles.
  • Bake the crusts for 6 minutes without toppings to set the dough.
  • Remove from the oven and spread a generous layer of Prego®+ Hidden with Super Veggies over each crust.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella and any additional toppings you like—pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms, or whatever the family prefers.
  • Bake for another 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted. Let cool a few minutes before serving.

This recipe is intentionally simple so kids can help shape and top their own mini pizzas. It’s a great way to turn dinner into a family activity and introduce more vegetables in a familiar format.

Notes:

  • Add chopped herbs or a sprinkle of dried oregano on the cheese if desired, keeping a plain-cheese option for picky little ones.
  • If you don’t have whole wheat flour, you can use all-purpose flour instead. The whole wheat adds extra fiber and a nuttier flavor.
  • When adjusting dough moisture, add water a tablespoon at a time. If the dough becomes too wet, add a touch of flour until it reaches the right consistency.
